All of these Psychologists have certainly made important contributions. But using citation metrics to rank "Top" scientists ignores the many other ways that scientists contribute to or harm scientific progress. As we've recently seen in various fraud and questionnable research practice investigations in the behavioral sciences, some scientists may look astounding on a limited number of dimensions such as citations or publications, but pollute the scientific literature with unreliable research or as toxic mentors and colleagues. By focusing on individual achievements, such metrics incentivize scientists to do whatever is best for their careers, regardless of what is best for science. We need to move towards a system when scientists are rewarded or punished for their entire range of contributions to science, not just their individual achievements. We're proud to have Brandon as a President's Award winner! Not only has he grown on the job, but his dedication to doing the job right, and growing in patience proves true character that we're glad to have on our team. "In this job there can be overwhelming amounts of numbers you are dealing with at a given time, so I’ve enjoyed the patience that is required to double or even triple check that whatever function you are executing is correct and can be traced in the system correctly. That was overwhelming when I first started, but you get a sense of satisfaction when everything goes as it should."#employeeappreciation #bestplacetowork #businesservices #businessoutsourcing

It is far better to do a few things well than undertake many good works and leave them half-done. - St. Francis de SalesIt is not how you start, but how you finish. Back in March we celebrated the very worthy winners of our Quarter 1 awards here at Animal Friends, as nominated by our very own colleagues. Of course, with so many wonderfully heartfelt nominations, choosing just one winner per category is never an easy feat, but as always, our Colleague Engagement Champions took on the challenge with gusto! We caught up with the well-deserving winner of our Quarter 1 Colleague of the Quarter award, Georgia B. (Team Leader – Customer Service), to find out just what it means to be crowned the winner! How did you feel when you found out you had won Colleague of the Quarter?“I was quite shocked when I found out I had won as there were so many people that deserved it, but I was incredibly grateful. It means a lot to be recognised in such a big way.”What’s your favourite thing about working at Animal Friends?“My favourite thing about working at Animal Friends is the people. You build such great relationships with your peers, and everyone is so supportive and willing to help you learn and grow; it’s genuinely inspiring.”What are you most excited about for your future at Animal Friends?“I’m most excited to continue growing and developing myself as a leader and as part of the business. I love learning new skills that I can take with me in life, and I know that I have so much more to learn here.”If you could give a new starter any advice or words of wisdom, what would they be? “The advice I would give is not to be too hard on yourself. Starting a new role can be scary and sometimes a little overwhelming but before you know it you will have settled right in, and you’ll look back and be so proud of what you’ve accomplished! Just believe in yourself.”What part of your Animal Friends journey are you most proud of?“I’m most proud of the journey I’ve been on as a Team Leader. While I started off as an Agent and worked my way up, I’ve grown so much since taking on the role of Team Leader. I’m proud of the leader that I am and the confidence that I’ve built in this role, with the support of my peers of course.”Can you describe your time at Animal Friends in just one word?“Enriching!”#ColleagueoftheQuarter #ColleagueAwards #LifeatAnimalFriends

“The best work experience of my career” is the single most common feedback from an Insigniam #breakthroughproject team members that I hear. In his new book,"The Songof Significance: A New Manifesto for Teams," Seth Godin writes that from interviews with 10,000 people in 90 countries on their best job ever, the top 4 responses were:I surprised myself with what I could accomplish.I could work independently. The team built something important.People treated me with respect. These are exactly what our clients experience as team members on a breakthrough project team!#Breakthrough #Innovation #transformation

Helping businesses grow their presence online, increase market share, and ultimately increase their bottom line.

Congrats to my dad (Tim Barlow) on 30 years at the same company- that’s very rare in this day and age. He’s taught me a lot in life but here are a few thing’s that stick out to me at the moment. 1. Do one thing everyday of your life that scares you. True growth happens when you are out of your comfort zone. 2. When you tell someone that you are going to do something, do it: when you inevitably make a mistake because we are human, take accountability for it and don’t let it happen again. 3. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Work hard where you are at and God will handle the rest. 4. The harder you work - fhe “luckier” you get. 5. Underachievers can’t stand overachievers and overachievers can’t stand underachievers. 6. The difference in the person at the top of the leaderboards every month and the person at the bottom of the leaderboards every month boils down to their mindset and discipline. 7. Whether you think you can or think you can’t - you’re right.

Today would have been my father's 80th birthday and while he's not here to celebrate with us, it's too big of a day for me to let it slip by without sharing something about him.I am who I am, personally and professionally, because of my dad. I spent 10 years working for him at the Country Club of Darien where he was the head Golf Professional for almost 35 years. The days were long but the lessons I learned from him have stuck with me a lifetime. When he died a few years ago we learned just what a profound impact he had on people - and what really stood out was that he always put them first. Some remarked that while they only saw him once a year at a member-guest, he remembered their name and details about their lives. He always made the time to listen and learn from others, no matter how busy he was, he wanted to hear about both the good times and bad. As I watched him move through his day, his people-first attitude with the members, guests, and his team inspired me and those around him. He made you feel important and valued every single day.In his memory on this July 4th, I ask you to consider how you can be a little more like Ed Nicholson. How you can listen just a little harder and connect more - be it with a client, a teammate, or someone starting back at you from the other side of the service desk. Know that those details and those interactions matter - they will be remembered and they just might make the all the difference. #team #people #listening #leadership #customerservice
